Chandigarh is a perfect place to study the generation of a solar power system as it faces minimum power cuts. The generation numbers in Chandigarh gives us a fair insight on how equipment quality & installation practices ,affect the generation of a system. Given below is an analysis of a 13.65 kWp system on a residential rooftop in sector 9 , Chandigarh.
About the solar plant
This plant is designed to have minimal controllable losses. A total of 42 panels have been installed using laser beam technology in a perfect same direction Remember , after temp losses mismatch is the biggest loss faced by solar power plants. To eliminate these losses 2 strings of 12 panels each and one string of 18 panels are connected to 2 different MPPTs. Also it is very important to ensure that we have a dedicated SPD (surge protection) for both the MPPTs. The plant has been mechanically designed in such a way that minimal DC cable loss is encountered. The inverter is placed on the rooftop itself to avoid these losses.
